It’s Childhood Services Week and in the spirit of the week we’d like to let you know about a new initiative currently running in South Dublin Libraries called the First 5 Little Library Bag. Each of our libraries is getting in touch with local Early Learning and Care Centres and offering them free Little Library Bags for their Preschool children. Each bag contains five books, one in Irish and four in English, along with information and goodies promoting a range of available services.
The First 5 Little Library Bags initiative is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion and Youth and the Department of Rural and Community Development as part of the First 5 Government Strategy for babies and children and the public libraries Right to Read Programme. If you’re involved with an Early Learning Centre or Care Centre then contact your local library for more information.
